Tribute to Tanta

I was deeply moved yesterday to read that Tanta had passed away (she is a co-blogger at my favorite non-local blog, Calculated Risk).

So young, smart and witty. I will miss her.

A reminder to us all, to cherish our time with friends and families.

AB,

I saw that last night and sat on my friend's couch and cried. The end of Houseman's poem kept going through my head:
"And round that early-laurelled head
Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead,
And find unwithered on its curls
The garland briefer than a girl's."

It hit me far far harder then I would have thought. I suspect I was being too optimistic but I had hoped she was doing better with a new drug therapy. I dont know that Tanta ever realized what a huge pack of fans she had out there.

Tanta and TXChick on Ben Jones's site were my heros - women who knew their stuff and we able to take the boys to task and do it with humor, brilliance, and clarity.

The world is a darker place without her. She will be very very missed.

What a bummer. I really learned a lot from her. I just ordered a Mortgage Pig polo to support her causes.
